Frequently Asked Questions

1. What is physical therapy (PT)?

Physical Therapy is designed to improve mobility, reduce pain, repair function, and decrease further and future injuries. PT utilizes a variety of methods including manual therapy, corrective exercises, and modalities to help improve your quality of life, health, and maintain independence.

2. What happens at my first physical therapy session?

At your initial session the Physical Therapist will begin with a comprehensive history in order to obtain all pertinent information to your present condition, former level of function, and how your condition affects your way of life. During the initial evaluation the therapist will properly evaluate your strength, flexibility, balance, coordination and posture to allow the specialist to understand your current condition and create a personalized treatment plan. Evaluations will last approximately 75-90 mins.

** Please note to wear comfortable clothing that allows you to move around.

**Also please fill out and bring your initial paperwork provided on the Contact page of this website and any current prescriptions or restrictions about your health.

3. Will I benefit from Physical Therapy even if I am not hurt?

A common misconception is that Physical Therapy is only for the injured or sick population. Physical Therapy also plays an important role in preventative care and movement enhancement. At Revolution Physical Therapy we create fitness and wellness programs to encourage a healthy active lifestyle that improves movement specific to the patient’s needs.

4. Will I need a referral from my doctor to come to Physical Therapy?

No. Florida is a "direct access state" which explains that a patient can first go to a physical therapist without a physician's referral and receive therapy for 30 days. After 30 days the therapist will need to have a treatment plan signed by an approved healthcare provider for additional therapy.
